Sam Hume as part of the Lanchester Boys Brigade team took part in the National finals last weekend in Liverpool, competing against five other teams from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Sam and his team mates started with a 6-3 win over the Ireland team 6-3 but then found the favourites from Grangemouth from Scotland just to strong going down 5-4. The loss put them in the semis to play against the other group winners, Monifieth also from Scotland.
A whole team effort saw them come out 5-4 winners and a place in the final against Grangemouth, having come third in the last two years this was a step forward for the team. The game didn’t start well going 2-1 down before the team rallied to go 4-2 up with Sam to play the next match, with a win needed to secure the title.
Sam Hume left nothing to chance and made short work of his opponent to take the title and a presentation with Sir Ken Dodd
