This Easter whilst many of us will be enjoying a special meal and a few Easter Eggs with family and friends, sadly there are many people in the UK who will struggle to put any food on the table. The problem of UK hunger is a growing one. More than one million people received 3 days of emergency food from a Trussell Trust foodbank last year, with over 35,000 of those children from the North East of England.
To do our part in helping families on a low or negligible income we want to collect as many Easter eggs as possible for children across County Durham, especially for those less fortunate who may otherwise not receive one.
That’s why this year we are launching our Easter Egg Appeal.
All we ask is that you pick up an extra egg when doing your shopping – EASY!
You can donate Easter eggs right now!
Just grab an extra Easter egg when shopping and bring them along to any session. We will then take them to the County Durham central Food Bank where they will be allocated to any of the 27 distribution centres, finding their way to the children most in need in Durham this Easter.
To help put a smile on children’s faces this Easter, please donate your eggs be 20th March at the latest.
