ESTTA Individual National Finals

22nd of April saw 8 Bishop Auckland players take part at the English Schools Table Tennis Association National Individual Finals at Wolverhampton.

An ill Leo Pontone battled his way in the under 11’s despite being under the weather he played some great stuff but was unable to get any wins, Anya Milne just missed out on getting to the Knockout rounds finishing 3rd in her group with 2 wins and 2 losses including a win over a higher ranked player.

Jack, Rob and Abbie all played in the under 19’s both turned out some good performances to finish 4th in their group of 6 with some good performances.

James, Max and Peter were all in the u16’s age group. James had to graft out 2 wins coming back from 2-0 down in both his wins after a hard week of exams. Max finished 3rd in his group winning 2 matches and just losing out to a much higher ranked player from the south west. Peter only lost to the top seed in his group meaning he qualified to the last 16 where he met James Kelly. At 30 places above Peter a win was a tough ask however James didn’t have it his own way with Peter making him work for his win.
