Junior British League
Derby Arena was the setting for the second weekend of the Junior British league. The Bishop Auckland Girls team before the 2nd weekend was sat in 3rd place.
The weekend was a case if what could have been, the weekend started with the loss of the Team Number 1 player Alice who was unfortunately Ill. the 1st match didn’t get much better from there a 4-2 loss to Great Stuckley which went down the final match when Ruby lost to out to 3 net- edge points in a row and couldn’t recover which would have saved a draw. The team then came up against Swerve again another 4-2 loss with Both Amy Gittings and Ruby Chan losing in 5 sets to Holy Williams. The last match was even more agonising vs league leader and unbeaten Ellenborough, at 3-1 up Bishop just couldn’t get over the line with Amy and Ffion both losing in the 5th sets to end up with a draw.
The Sunday saw a victory over Guernsey and then a disappointing loss to Cardiff which they needed to stay in the division.
Overall an unlucky weekend for the team but the seasons aim of retaining the JBL status was achieved.
