The 3rd round of the national cadet league took place on the 7th of Feb. The Bishop A team maintained their top sport with 4 important wins. Starting the Day with an 8 – 1 Victory over Bishop B. followed by a statement making 7-2 win over second place Northumbria. The team followed up with a 9-0 win over a young Northfield team and an 8-1 victory over Blitz to leave them 20 points clear with 27 points still to play for, so a win of 7 or more vs Darlington will see Bishop Auckland A take the title.
Bishop Auckland B had a tough day at the office. Starting with a tough loss to the A team the team were unlucky to lose 5-4 to 3rd place Ormesby 1 and that was followed by another narrow loss to Ormesby 2 who are sat in 7th. The day ended with another loss but yet a positive one with Bishop players scoring some good wins in a 6-3 loss to 2nd place Northumbria.
The young Bishop C Team kept their good form going and there hopes of taking home the title by beating league leaders Darlington B 5-4 in their first match and followed this up by beating Ormesby 4, 9-0 before a tight 4-5 loss to Ormesby 3 before getting back on track with a 8-1 win over Bishop D. this leaves them 10 points behind with 37 to play for which includes a top of the league battle.
Bishop D also showed their potential having lost 2 players to the C team a debut was given to young Aidan Nichol who showed hard work pays off winning 50% of his day matches which gives him a national ranking on the next list. Hi wins started with 3 against Ormesby 4 which the team won 8-1, the team then scored another 8-1 win over Ryedale before the experience of the other teams started to show with an 8-1 loss to league leaders Darlington before another 8-1 loss to Bishop C.
