National School Games Medal for Ben
17-year-old Ben Robinson, from Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club, took part in the 2016 School Games at Loughborough University from the 1st-4th September. The School Games see the nation’s top young athletes from 10 sports gather to compete at the leading event of the year. Representing the North East, Ben and his teammate finished 4th in the Disability Team event, just missing out on a bronze medal. Ben, who has Autism, was also competing in the Learning Disability category, where he made it through to the final stages before losing out in the semi-finals to the Welsh player who went on to get the silver medal.
Ben trains as part of Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club’s Talent Squad three times a week, and this year has set his sights on winning the Special Olympics national title.
