Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club is celebrating this week after receiving one of the top awards in Table tennis. At the National Championships in Hatfield, BATTC was presented with Table Tennis England’s, Table tennis club of the year 2016. The judges were impressed with the club’s successes at community level, supporting the local community by running dementia-friendly sessions, increasing participation by increasing the number of primary school and satellite sessions, as well as its national successes which now sees over 25 players on the national ranking lists.
This is the clubs 3rd National award after Carol Rodway and Matt Porter won Volunteer and coach of the year in 2013.
Club Chairman Matt Porter said “This award is a great reward for all of the hard work the volunteers put in on a daily basis and the dedication of the coaches and of course the players. To achieve this award in only 4 years is fantastic and It’s a big step for the club towards achieving its aims and becoming one of the best clubs in England”
