4 young players from Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club represent County Durham in Draycott, Derby competing in Division two of the county championships. The Durham seconds were represented by Bishop Auckland’s Adam Hanby, Amy Mold, Jake Haygarth and Hayden Gilmour with Jamie Peacock and Reem Raseem both from Darlington and Sunderland’s Sophie Richardson. With Jake, Hayden and Amy all making their county debuts.
The first match saw a 7-3 win over Norfolk with Adam and Amy rested, Hayden, Jake and Jamie all picked up doubles with Reem picking up one. A young and talented Derbyshire side was next up for Durham and a 5-5 draw showing that Durham has its own talent. Jamie and Ada both picked up maximums and Hayden a single. The final match saw Hayden take his turn on the bench and Jake join Adam and Jamie for the boys and Amy and Sophie for the girls, to gain a final victory over Lancashire 2nds, another 2 wins for Jamie and singles for both Adam and Jake saw the boys score 4 wins and a double for Amy Mold scoring a win over a higher ranked opponent.
