Buzzing Burton for Luke

Luke Mitchell took the long trip to Staffordshire to play the Burton Uxbridge 2 star. Luke, in his first year as a Cadet and Junior, started by losing to the 2nd seeded Marcus Holba and then to Toby Ellis both much higher ranked than Luke, before getting a win over Derbyshire’s James Krassowski to finish 3rd in his group in the Junior Boys. The afternoon saw the Cadets where again Luke went down to the second seed for the event. Before scoring a excellent win over England number 58 Reece Chand to make the last 16. The last 16 saw Luke drawn against Jenson Moreno ranked 44th in the cadets. Luke once again didn’t let the 40 places between them come into it, powering his way to a 3-1 win and a place in the quarter finals. Thomas Nicol was Luke next opponent, ranked lower than Luke, Luke showed his class and won 3-0 to reach the semis, where he had to play Toby Ellis again, this time Luke pushed Toby to a 4th end going down 11-9.

A great tournament from Luke with a nice jump up the ranking list expected.
