the Fast Fund 4 star

Four Bishop Auckland players made their first 4-star appearance of the year season at the Fast Fund 4 star in Middlesbrough, formerly the Stockton 4 star.

Anya Milne didn’t really find her gears on the Saturday but was unlucky to go down in the 5th to Lola McGhee, whereas the Sunday saw her play much better losing in the 5th to England Number 14 Junior Sophie Barlow. Amy Mold who had been ill all week also didn’t find the form she was hoping for but did secure a win over Katie Watkinson.

Luke Mitchell and Jake Haygarth combined in the cadet boys team event where they reached the Semi finals before going down 3-0 to Hull St Marys.

The Singles saw Luke have to face England Number 2 Cadet Louis Price, Luke put in a great performance to win the second set, which included a round the net roller off Louis serve but went down 3-1, Luke however use this new-found confidence to beat number 36 Joe Cooper in 5 sets having been 2-0 down.

Jake Haygarth was star man of the weekend reaching the Semi finals of the under 13’s, like Luke beating Joe Cooper who was 4th seed for the event before going down to the second seed in the Semis.
