Strong season open at Garstang

With the new table tennis season underway a team of 5 from Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club took part in the Garstang 2 star. The day started with the under 15 boys, which saw Jake Haygarth seeded at number 4 win his group without loosing an end. Luke Mitchell made it out of his group as runner up going down in the 5th set to the 3rd seeded Adam Dennison. George McAdam finished 3rd in his group after a great game with England number 62 going down in the 5th. George kept that form going to reach the semis of the plate event before running out of steam.  Luke went on the reach the last 16 before going out to 3rd Seed Joe Dennison, who Jake then had to face coming through a 3-0 winner to set up a semi with the 2nd seed England number 18, which also saw Jake come though 3-0 to set up a final vs top seed Toby Ellis who won 3-1. Anya Milne the only female player from Bishop was seeded 4th and justified that position winning her group without dropping a set but found England number Megan Jones too hot going down in the semis.

The Afternoon followed a similar flow with Jake seeded 5th winning his group, Luke coming runner up losing to 2nd seed Daniel Watkinson in the group in the juniors where they then had to play each other in the last 16 with Jake coming through winner. Jake quarter final match again saw him up against a higher seed, and again he came through 3-0 winner to reach the semis where again he met Toby Ellis who came though in the 5th set. Anya in the Junior Girls again won her group without drooping a set before bowing out in the quarters.
