The Junior British League sees the best clubs from all over the UK come together to compete across 8 Boys divisions and 4 Girls divisions, with over 300 talented table tennis players taking part at Derby Arena over two weekends, the second weekend saw the boys fighting to get into the top half of the division and the girl fighting to avoid finishing in the relegation positions.
The boys of Jake Haygarth, Luke Mitchell Adam Dennison and Kieron Bowes started with a 3-3 draw with Woodfield, With Adam getting two and 1 from Jake. Next up saw another 3-3 draw with Batts from Essex, again Adam scoring two and Luke picking up 1. This wasn’t enough to put the boys in the top half so were playing for positions 5-8. Next match saw a 5-1 win over crusaders with Adam remaining unbeaten on Saturday to get 2 Jake also 2 and 1 for Luke.
Sunday saw the team plays Batts again and another 3-3 draw with Luke picking up 2 wins and Ben Mold added to the team for day 2 picking up 1. The final match saw a 5-1 loss to Woodfield with Ben Mold picking up the single win.
The girls Started the day eager to avoid relegation and showed it with a 4-2 win over Halton With Holly McNamara picking up 2 wins and Anya Milne and Wiktoria Smolarek, 1 each. Unfortunately for the girls this would be the last win of the Saturday going down to 1st place Brighton 5-1 and to second place Ulster with Holly and Wiktoria picking up the wins. The Sunday saw the girls hot form and secure wins in both there matches beating Greenhouse girls 4-2 with maximums for Holly and Wiktoria before a final 4-2 victory over Byng hall with two wins from Wiktoria and 1 each from Anya and Holly to see the girls finish in 4th and just 1 point from a 3rd place finish.
