Bishop hosted their first camp since the easing of restrictions back in April, this had been long awaited and was well attended by our Bishop juniors, both from our beginners and intermediates. Unfortunately Steve Brunskill was unable to attend due to personal reasons, and we hope to work with him some time early next year on more school holiday camps. Our club coach and top squad player Lee Tinkler kindly offered to help assist with coaching for the full day and the club are very grateful for this. A big thank you to Pat Johnson for helping out on the second hhalf of the day.
The first part of the morning was about consistency and placement of the ball, something that is vital at any stage and ability. The players really enjoyed trying to get the highest amount of shots in a row, challenges with other tables, and a few fun exercises to get them thinking about these two aspects.
After a short lunch break it was back to the tables for drills and exercises about movement, specifically the importance of smaller side-stepping movements and how the slightest difference in placement of the ball can effect the other players movement.
Well done to everybody involved, we hope to host another camp similar to this with more local clubs involved as well.
